Direct School Admission - Secondary (DSA-Sec)

1.    Talent Area: Leadership

The student leadership programme at Bedok View Secondary aims to develop students into confident and inspiring leaders. We engage all students by equipping them with foundational leadership skills so that they can grow to be responsible and respectful leaders.  We provide various platforms and opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership skills.  In this way, they can develop into inspiring leaders who exhibit the 3C qualities of Character, Commitment and Courage, which are aligned to our school values.

2.    DSA-Sec Criteria

In this Direct School Admission Exercise, we are looking for promising Primary 6 pupils who exhibit the following qualities:

i. Strong leadership qualities: 

·         Held leadership position in primary school (preferably leadership position in a primary school’s CCA/student leadership body e.g. Prefects, CCA Leaders/Captains, Class Monitors, NE Ambassadors etc.)

ii. Conduct:

·         Very Good/Excellent

3.    Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview through video conferencing which will be held at the applicants’ primary school. Applicants will be assessed on the qualities indicated in the DSA Criteria (as stated above) and their potential.

Centralised DSA-Sec Application Process

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 12 May 2020, 9.00 am to 5 June 2020, 3.00 pm.

By 3 July 2020

Short-listed applicants will be notified.

Between 13 July to 14 August 2020

Interview sessions will be carried out through video conferencing at student’s primary school for shortlisted applicants.

By 14 September  2020

All applicants will receive a reply from school on the outcome of their applications: (i) Confirmed Offer (CO), (ii) Wait List (WL) or Unsuccessful).

26 to 30 October 2020

School Preference Submission

Students who are given Confirmed Offer or Wait List offer will receive notification on the School Preference Submission in October 2020. Both parents are required to login to the DSA-Sec Portal using their SingPass to submit up to three school preferences from 26 to 30 October 2020. If parents are unable to submit online, they can approach their child’s primary school for assistance to submit the school preferences on their behalf.

DSA-Sec offers not taken up will be considered as lapsed at the end of the School Preference Submission period.

25 to 27 November 2020 (tentative)

Release of DSA-Sec Allocation Results.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
